Posted by Jeff in Jazz, Music, Nat King Cole.
trackback

Again from the 1957 show, accompanied by Jack Costanzo on bongos and one of the song’s writers, trombonist Juan Tizol.

After Midnight album coverAfter Midnight, the 1956 album featuring this cut with the same backup musicians, was Cole’s answer to those who said he had sold out to pop music with such hits as “Unforgettable,” “Mona Lisa” and “The Christmas Song”.

Interesting that in his intro Nat doesn’t mention Tizol’s credited co-writer, Duke Ellington.
