Max Roach, 1924-2007 August 21, 2007

Posted by Jeff in Cool, In memoriam, Jazz, Music.
trackback

From the mid-1960s, featuring Coleridge Parkinson on piano, Eddie Kahn on bass, Clifford Jordan on tenor sax and the vocals of Roach’s second wife, the amazing Abbey Lincoln.

Arguably the most influential drummer in the history of jazz, and just about the last link to the legends of Bird, Diz and Mingus. I’m not much of one for quoting from the YouTube comment section, but doubts put it best: “This is adult music”.
