Alice's Restaurant, 1967Oh, man, this makes me feel old — this year marks the fortieth anniversary of the release of Arlo Guthrie’s “Alice’s Restaurant”.

Alice's Restaurant, 1997In 1991, Arlo bought the church in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, where Alice and Ray Brock were living in 1965 (the restaurant was six miles away, and it was called the Back Room Restaurant.) He converted the church to the Guthrie Center, a “spiritual center” where he gave this performance on July 2, 2005:
