Our waltz with The Last Waltz comes to an end, as The Band performs It Makes No Difference:

In the finale to their farewell concert at the Winterland Ballroom, Thanksgiving 1976, The Band is accompanied by Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ron Wood and Neil Young in I Shall Be Released:

Robbie Robertson: The road was our school, it gave us a sense of survival, taught us all we know … There’s not much left that we can really take from the road, we’ve had ou share of … or maybe it’s just superstitious …

Martin Scorsese: Superstitious in what way?

Robertson: Y’know, you can press your luck. The road has taken many of the great ones … Hank Williams, Buddy Holly, Otis Redding, Janis, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis … it’s a goddamn impossible way of life …

Scorsese: It is, isn’t it?

Robertson: No question about it.
