Uh, it’s actually “if every Obama supporter ‘were’ this smart…not ‘was’ this smart”. You’re speaking in the subjunctive…”if” is always followed by “were”. But, wow that kid took every blow that guy was throwing…most of the candidates would have folded under that barrage of questions.
